My youngest now has a bus pass. This is good news as it means that Mrs Plug does not have to bust a gut to get to pick her up from wherever she may be that day, and it also gives youngest more time at home, rather than going to a friends house every day. The friend has been very kind in letting youngest go there every day, but sometimes you just need to be at home I think. Anyway, the bus route does not of course go from where we live, and as a result a small journey into the nearest village is required, and that is 1 1/2 miles away. I decided that as she is only small, and that is is a little dark and eerie in places, that it would be prudent for me to accompany youngest on this journey. Of course this means that with the pick up, I will be walking six miles. I did this with gusto, having nice chats and doing fatherly daughterly bonding on one journey, and listening to an audio version of Romeo and Juliet in the other direction. However, due to incompetence, carelessness and lack of foresight, instead of wearing my walking boots, I chose an old pair of trainers. The result is a blister on the ball of my right foot the size of a baby's head. I realised on the penultimate leg of the days travails that there was an issue as my right foot was quite painful, and I think as a result, I was compensating. The upshot is, that my left leg is cramping up now, and generally making me feel like a very old man. Still...on the plus side, it was very pleasant to be out in the fresh air so early, and to return home with a newspaper under my arm, I actually felt like a grown up which doesn't happen very often. I am 44 years old.
Work was affected slightly as a result in that I just wanted to sleep.
I approach the weekend with a little sense of doom as I have two plays being performed. They are plays that I have written and whilst they have both been published, this will mark their first performance. As it stands, ticket sales are sluggish, so I am also a little worried about the financial side of it all.
