I have taken the opportunity of the lack of company to spend some time reading...not just the stuff I have to read for my degree, but also the good old fashioned reading a book for the sake of it. At last week's Richard Herring gig I bought a copy of his book "How not to grow up". It is the story of his fortieth year, and the effect it had on him. So much of it rang true with me, apart from the Champagne bottle (You need to read it to understand that reference). All in all it was a life affirming, laugh out loud triumph of a book, and I hope it will not be his last. Eldest has pretty much abandoned me for 24 hours, which is good for her. I think she was getting a little wrapped up in the stressful things in life and needed to relax a bit. She could of course just be gagging to get away from me?
