Off to work for the day in what Mrs Plug refers to as "Like a proper job". I love her. I arrived to hear the songs that the year fours had written about war. They were all rather lovely, and one was rather touching. It told the story of a man at war, by singing extracts of letters between him and his son. The kids told me I would need a tissue before they sang it. I said I would try mot to cry, but that I do get emotional. To this, one of the more effusive boys called out "Oh sort yourself out and be a man". I love my job. We spent all day creating the world of the American Civil War as seen through the eyes of children, and by the time I left school at 3.30 I was exhausted. It was then home, quick cuppa, and then off to run the evening session, where we did some work on Theatre in the round with a particualrly noisy Monday Group. I sat on the sofa in the evening, narrowly avoiding the temptation to drink heavily. In fact I avoided alcohol completely. I was rather proud. I am nearly finished with Richard Herring's book, and I am enjoying it hugely. Thought are already turning to what I should read next.
