I set off early for the rehearsals and arrived before everyone else. The meeting was at an Arts Centre in Luton, and I was able to sit in the Coffee bar and relax before the others arrived. I mused for a while as to how on earth I found myself sitting waiting here to do a paid acting job, and reflecting on the decisions we have taken in the last five years, and where they have taken us. It's been a fascinating period for us, and one that I hope we can look back on fondly. We had a lot of fun in the rehearsals, and I was pleased to be able to have an input into the script. It will of course be slightly daunting to be walking out in front of large groups of cynical 16 year olds, but I think I can just about handle it. I just need to remember the money! I got home, had time for a cuppa, and then went off to do my after school club, which went very well indeed. Stopping off at the charity shop to stock up on two more books, one by Jonathan Coe which is a follow up to his novel the Rotters Club, which I seem to remember enjoying some time ago, and another called 1812, Napoleon's march on Moscow. Not the sort of book I would usually pick out, but it seemed fascinating. When I will get to read them is of course an entirely different matter. I finished my second book of the year today, which puts me behind in terms of my target. I am sure that I will struggle with this over the year, but I am going to keep plodding through the list to see how far I can get. The list changes on virtually an hourly basis, but I might toy with the idea of blogging the list I currently have. I really enjoyed Richard Herring's book, and I am delighted that I can continue to read his story, as he still has his complete blog online. The meeting in the evening went really well, and whilst we had received some awkward and pedantic questions about our proposals via email, we were able to handle them with no trouble, and in the event, the proposal was accepted unanimously. A glass of wine to celebrate, and then off to bed
